Java Backend Engineer (Spring Boot)

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our partner companies building payment systems, insurance platforms, logistics backends, and other services where a bad deploy costs real money. You'll work with modern Java and Spring Boot, split and strengthen services, and bring the kind of testing discipline these systems require.

What You'll Do

• Design and build services with Java and Spring Boot
• Model persistence with JPA or jOOQ and tune the queries behind it
• Build event-driven flows with Kafka or RabbitMQ
• Own reliability: timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, graceful degradation
• Write unit and integration tests with JUnit and Testcontainers
• Lead incremental migration off older Java and Spring versions

Requirements

• 5+ years of Java development, 3+ with Spring Boot in production
• Comfortable with Java 17 or newer, including records and streams
• Strong SQL and ORM experience, plus an understanding of transaction boundaries
• Experience with a message broker and with at-least-once delivery semantics
• Experience with Maven or Gradle and containerized deployment
• Excellent written and verbal English (B2+)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kotlin on the JVM
• Experience with Quarkus or Micronaut
• Knowledge of JVM tuning and profiling
• Background in payments, insurance, or logistics
