Triage Engineering Resumes
Screen engineering CVs against your must-haves with evidence scores, blind mode, hidden-text flags and screening-call questions. Organizes evidence; never rejects anyone for you.
What it produces
- The bar, rewritten as evidence, capped at four must-haves. "Strong SQL" becomes "has run Postgres in production and changed something about it".
- Proxies removed, with a reason each: school rankings, "native English", age words, "US citizens only", gap filters.
- Blind mode by default. Names become Candidate A, B, C; graduation years and addresses stay out. The name key sits in a last section you can cut.
- A score per must-have with the quote that earned it. No quote, no score.
- A suggested next step (Phone screen, Hold, or Not a match on must-haves) with the reason, for you to confirm.
- Flags for human review: instructions hidden in a CV, two applicants sharing a phone number, identical paragraphs.
- Four screening-call questions in lawful wording, each with what a strong and a weak answer sound like.
Worked example
From the Resume Triage playbook this tool uses.
From a run on a fictional example. The input: a 9-person invoicing and payments startup hiring a senior backend engineer (Node, Postgres, Stripe webhooks, SOC 2 prep), five CVs, and a founder note asking for "someone from a top school" and to "skip anyone with a long gap". One CV had white-font text at the bottom; another shared a phone number with the first.
Bar changes I made:
- "Someone from a top school" was removed. School name or ranking says nothing about whether someone can run a billing service, so I did not score it.
- "Skip anyone with a long gap" was declined. Gaps are not a signal, and some of the reasons behind them are protected. I scored everyone on evidence only.
